Hello, everyone! [18 Apr 2012|10:10am]

My name is Michele and I am recently getting involved within the Lolita communities! So many lovely people! I am very excited to become a part of this ever-growing community. Passion for fashion~

Anyways, I am 19 and I live with my girlfriend Savannah. I'm very friendly and I love to help people with whatever I can. However, I tend to be a bit of a recluse and I'm skeptical of a lot of people. 'Tis a flaw. I have a real knack and love for the piano. I also love to draw (but I am too shy to show my drawings off). I've always kind of been a "casual" Lolita, but I am going to be using my wondrous tax return for a shopping spree... +__+ I am really excited to go to some of the meets coming up too! I prefer Kuro/Aristocrat/Hime/Gothic/Classic Lolita styles, though maybe one day I'll find some Ama that will look good on me. I also want to try making my own clothing for it too. n.n Looks like a lot of fun.

I cosplay outside of Lolita and my normal social life, and I usually make my own costumes. You can see my cosplay here: http://xwhiterussia.deviantart.com. I also use Tumblr, and you can totally follow me here: http://xwhiterussia.tumblr.com. I have a Facebook too, but I am very careful to who I add, so if you find me, please send me a message telling me who you are or I won't accept the request!

Lolita in Kingsville! [30 Dec 2011|01:09pm]

[ mood | bored ]

Hello one and all. My name is Penny/Ynnep. I wanted to know if there are any other Lolita in the Kingsville area of South Texas. or South Texas all together! As far as I know, I am the only one aside from 1-2 other part timers. It is quite lonely. While everyone that sees my Lolita fashion loves it, no one else is doing it. That I know of. If there are any others, please speak up. Thank you.

Intro and Meet-up Discussion [16 Dec 2011|07:53pm]

My name is Tricky and I am from the Austin area. I just recently got a new lj, so if my name sounds familiar, I used to be trickyfrog~ I'd love to make some more lolita friends here on lj or in person~ Friends are always win~

I wanted to ask the Dallas area lolitas about having a meet with the Austin lolis. Us Austin lolis planned on coming up next year in January, February, or March to meet you ladies, go to the fabric district, hit up the purikura machines, and possibly do some shopping (omg, I want to go to h&m :D )!

If you are in the Dallas area, please let me know if you have any sort of preference on which month might be the best month for you~! We'd be coming up on a Saturday and it would be a day trip only~

Thank you, ladies~!

Some help with bloggitudes? [15 Oct 2011|11:10am]

Hey everyone! I was wondering if I could pick your brains for some input!

I'm interested in starting a lolita related blog, but as I've started to poke around, I see that there are several out there already. I'm a fan of some of them (I particularly like F-Yeah Lolita) just because of their frank nature and they way that they provide information to people who are both new and veterans in the fashion.

So my question to you is- what kind of blogs would you be interested in seeing? What kind of EGL experience would you like to see someone write about? Do you like "challenge" blogs (where someone sets up a task they plan to accomplish in a set period of time and then blogs about their progress)? Do you prefer straight information? Do you like more narrative? What attracts you to someone's blog? Pictures? Funny stories?

A little about me and my strengths/things I could actually write about-

I've been involved in the EGL community for almost 10 years. My friends and I discovered the fashion around 2002 or so, and started looking in to it- making some terrible Ita dresses with enthusiasm as our guide. However, we did successfully host several events at conventions as well as lolita centric photoshoots with the help of a photographer friend of ours. However, I didn't really own any lolita pieces that hadn't been made on my own (and somewhat poorly at that, haha) until very recently.

I am a cook, and I love to bake. My favorite lolita events were always tea parties. I like planning out menus and coming up with cute presentations (when I'm able to). I have a couple of go-to recipes for these sorts of events, but I don't usually have as much time as I'd like to experiment.

I'm a plus size lolita- which presents its own challenges (I tend to seek out replicas and original custom size pieces). Admittedly, I'm looking to adopt some better exercise habits and stuff. ^_^;;

I'M OLD. Haha, it just seems like I'm older than the average loli, even though I have definitely come across a few girls here and there that are older than I am, I'm 28 which definitely puts me in the "vintage" spectrum of things. XD I just need to start to groom my tastes to something a little more classic. But... I love cupcakes and food prints! XD

Anyways- I was just wondering if I could pick your brains. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

October Mini-Meet! [03 Oct 2011|01:44am]

Let's enjoy the sudden break in the Texas heat by eating some delicious pastries and sharing each other's company!
We'll meet at Mozart Bakery in Carrollton - 2625 Old Denton Rd at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
If anyone is interested, maybe we can play some card games at the bakery, or we can just chat. ^_^
Perhaps after we can go take some PuriKura photos!
This is just a casual mini meet, so let's relax and have some fun!

Please RSVP (even if you're just a *maybe*) here by Saturday, just so we have an idea of how many to expect!

Questions? Email me at thelonebamf (at) gmail.com

Any interest in a mini-meet in October? (Dallas Area) [15 Sep 2011|03:50pm]

Hi guys, long time no see. XD Well, I guess there's a reason for that...

I'm coming to visit the Dallas area in October - the weekend of the 8-11 or so after having moved to Indiana where the EGL community is pretty much nonexistent, so I am positively ACHING for a lolita meetup of some kind. I thought I'd put the feelers out and see if anyone might be interested in getting together for a lunch or tea time meet, just something small and fun, nothing too crazy.

I'm happy to organize a little something as soon as I get my travel plans exactly hammered out, I just wanted to see if there were any of you that would want to get together. (Also, since I've been away for about two years, I don't know what the awesome new locations for meetups would be. So suggestions are welcome!)

Thanks! I hope to see some of you soon!

Frozen Yogurt Meet Up

Saturday, March 26th at 2:00 PM

Yogurt Fusion
209 W. Hickory St. STE 101
Denton, TX

(Across from the large Campus Theater sign)

I realize this is very short notice! I'm currently involved in a group project focusing on subcultures in a fashion theory class. One aspect of the project is to "observe" our subjects in their "natural environment". This pretty much means my group members will be taking notes on us from the other side of the restaurant. We might need to interview one or two people before the meet-up if anyone is willing.

I'll bring Loliopoly and Cranium for us to play, feel free to bring any games! Yogurt Fusion has a huge variety of coffee & other beverages in addition to frozen yogurt. :)

Hope to see you there!

Contest for Austin-area members! [10 Jan 2011|04:44pm]

I'm the new maintainer/moderator at austinlolitas , and I'm sponsoring a contest to get our little comm active again!

Check out this post for details!

There are three ways to enter:  If you're a lolita in the Austin, TX area, join the comm and introduce yourself as a comment on the contest thread (of course, you can feel free to write your own post, but for it to count for the contest you have to at least link it in a comment).  If you're familiar with the Austin area, suggest places for meetups.  If you're creatively minded, suggest a theme or create some banner or icon art for the comm.  That's up to three entries per person for the contest!  Unfortunately, it is open only to Austin-area lolitas - I just want to get the word out that the comm is finally going to be active again.  Contest closes this Saturday, January 15, at 11:59 pm Central (US) Time.
